Reps To Probe Delay In Payment Of Stipends To Npower Volunteers

The House of Representatives has ordered an inquiry into federal government’s N-Power scheme under the National Social Intervention Programme.

The programme which is a brainchild of President Buhari has in recent times, been plagued by allegations of arbitrary disengagement and non payment of allowances to volunteers.

The decision to probe the scheme was taken after its relevant Committees met with the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and others managing the scheme.

The committee alleged that thousands of beneficiaries are owed the N30,000 monthly stipend while also being arbitrarily disengaged.

The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Farouq and others present at the hearing however, debunked allegations of arbitrary disengagement and unpaid arrears of stipends.
