The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Farouq had promised earlier this week that the payment of NYSC corps members’ allowance and N-power volunteers’ stipends for the month of March would begin this week before Easter.
She said that the delay in stipends payment is not just limited to Npower volunteers alone, even corps member of the NYSC program is yet to be paid for March as well.
“We’re dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak pandemic first; paying 20,000 Naira each to the vulnerable and poorest in the society which has been a focus. But now that they’re being settled up, immediate payment will start latest before Easter”.She said.
A top official in the ministry also revealed that they have already mobilized and authorized the necessary departments to credit N-power volunteers and NYSC corps members.
He said: ” we have already authorized the payment of N-power volunteers’ stipends and NYSC corps members’ allowance with immediate effect. I believe by now some of them must have received alerts or tomorrow. Only that, some may get theirs by next week depending on the banks they’re banking with because we notice that some banks do delay payment up to a week even after we have credited them”.
