Lagos opens portal to recruit 1 million youths for empowerment program | Register Now
Lagos state government has again introduced another benefiting job opportunity program for students in tertiary institution, secondary school and the youth in general.
This time, the State has embarked on a journey to empower one million students in Digital Skills by 2023 which will invariably position Lagos as the Tech Hub of Africa.
The program was designed as a complementary training for students in final and penultimate year in entrepreneurship, employ-ability and basic digital skills required for the workplace.
This was mentioned in a statement in the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab. He said, “the essence of the program is to fill the documented gaps in the current curriculum that is essential in the employment market and enhances the employ-ability of graduates in Nigeria’s Centre of Excellence, Lagos.”
Stressing further he said, Lagos State secondary school students will be well trained by professionals and will be able to access digital skill training through internship opportunities and programs as they leave school.
The first phase of the program has kicked off and will continue over the next four months leveraging on the virtual learning platform, while the ‘Digital Skills Initiative Lagos’ will commence virtually until the ease of the lockdown necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program is legibly applicable for students and youths in Lagos State alone. Candidates who are interested can register through www.jobsinlagos.ng. Candidates who are able to complete the program will be given the opportunity to be featured on Lagos State jobs portal where partner corporate organizations can select fresh graduates for recruitment.
The initiative will run alongside a more robust digital skills campaign ‘Digital Skills Initiative Lagos’ www.dsilagos.ng.
He said the Digital Skill Initiative Empowerment will be coordinated by LoftyInc Allied Partners Limited – an innovative development company that grows start-up teams, manages innovation programmes and facilitates impact projects in West Africa”.
The Special Adviser averred that LoftyInc, an award-winning pioneer in Nigeria’s innovation sector, is in partnership with Microsoft, VMware’s IT Academy, Wennovation Hub, LoftyInc Capital Management and a host of other corporates.
The programs, which are initiatives of the Lagos State Ministry of Education, are being supervised and coordinated by the Office of Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab.
