Ajeokuta Steel To Create 500,000 Direct Jobs Soon – Ogah
Ogah made this known on Tuesday during a book presentation in Abuja.
He told newsmen that when fully operational, the company will create about 500,000 direct jobs.
While calling on Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, Ogah emphasised that a lot is being done by the current administration to bring back to life collapsed infrastructure, ranging from road to railway transport and other sectors.
He noted that the Ministry of Mines and Steel is critical to creating jobs across board, stating that the major challenge facing the sector is lack of information.
The Minister of States for Mines and Steel, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah has said the Federal government has struck a deal with Russian government to revitalize the Ajeokuta steel company.
Ogah said the Ministry is making a lot of efforts to derisk the mining sector and make it attractive for investors to come in.
He also reinstated the commitment of the Ministry to re-energize the sector and make it contribute significantly to the economy, adding that before the end of the year, the Ministry will move beyond 0.5 GDP to above 2 percent.
